Cali Ward

Cali Ward is an artist with many creative and worthwhile pursuits. She has been teaching as an adjunct professor at BYU-Idaho since 2020, teaching oil painting and watercolor. Cali loves the opportunity to work with young people who are fresh in their artistic journey. She has been painting in oils longer, but fell in love with watercolors in college and now splits her time between them. Cali studied fine art and illustration at BYU-Idaho. After graduating, she sought out an artist agent and found one in WendyLynn & Co. She has been doing educational illustrations and self published children’s books since 2011. Having an illustration come in every so often while raising a family with her loving husband helped to keep her skills sharp. Plein air painting has been a recent passion of Cali’s. Being forced to make quick design and color decisions in the field has strengthened her confidence as an artist. It has been such a joy to get out in nature and appreciate the beauty of God’s creations. Sometimes these plein air stints are an artistic exercise, and sometimes they are just needed therapy! While Cali enjoys getting out and doing a quick landscape, she also loves to paint the figure in the studio. Capturing human emotion, particularly in children, is a rewarding challenge.
