Upon reflection
A cloudy day at Craters of the Moon National Park. I was taken by my wife's reflection in a calm puddle, where the rocks and debris beneath the water could be seen outlined by the moody sky. The juxtaposition of the sneakers and her reflection in the puddle, making her shadow the pre-eminent figure, struck me as evocative and unusual. I reversed the shading in her reflection, where the further point (her head) was actually lighter in color, in order to emphasize the contrast between her shadow-reflected image with her shoes and the damp earth beneath them.
