A Dog's Day

Grabbing lunch one day at a favorite downtown eatery the peaceful demeanor of this old hound spoke to me as he patiently waited upon who I imagined to be his best friend. As I snapped his picture in the afternoon light he seemed so unencumbered by my interest, choosing only to relax and perhaps be dreaming of a life that had once been full of exciting adventures. I wonder which he prefers? The adrenaline of his youth or the calm of this Dog's Day.
