This self portrait came from a photo reference my husband shot one day while we were fly fishing in Idaho and I’ve always loved it. While editing the reference, digitally, I played with brightened and contrasted color and loved what happened when the fall foliage and water exploded into vivid jewel tones. Even the rocks came to life.
”The River In Me” is the first work that I’ve done that expresses this level of personal emotion & reflection. My go-to genre is more whimsical, sometimes loose and sometimes detailed. I have never been good at introspection. What lies underneath my reactions to life is unknown to even me, for the most part. Lately, God is showing me it matters and I need to seek it out with as much interest as I do the fish under the water. And when I do I’ll unearth a treasure of wisdom and healing that my heart is desperate for.
